This notebook cover is made from a fabric called ``homespun,'' which was introduced from England during the Meiji period and has continued to be made in Hanamaki, Iwate Prefecture.
“Homespun” refers to fabrics that are hand-spun and hand-woven.
Nowadays, it includes textiles that retain that texture and have a handmade feel.
The yarn used this time is spun with an uneven thickness, similar to hand-spun yarn.
That single thread is dyed little by little in various colors, such as red, green, and white.
Then, the thinner parts of the thread will be dyed darker, and the thicker parts will be dyed slightly lighter.
By weaving it, a warm tweed fabric with complex colors is created.
All processes, from spinning the thread to completing the fabric, are handled by skilled craftsmen at a small factory in Hanamaki.
Please use this as an important book to record your daily life.
