Rare Japanese Tsuba Sword Guard Edo Era Heian Castle w/box Used in Japan F/S
Condition: Used
Heian Castle, brass inlay, iron ground, round bellflower arabesque design, sea cucumber openwork tsuba, unsigned, double hole, small corners, Yoshiro, sea cucumber openwork, Musashi tsuba, paulownia box included
Sword guard with rounded iron-ground sword mount in the Heian-jo style with arabesque design of bellflowers and sea squirts, inlaid with brass, unmarked, with both holes in the body and a small piece of meat with a square ear, in a paulownia wood box.
This is a Heian Castle design that was popular from mid Muromachi to early Edo period, but the exact period is unknown.
The tastefully colored bellflower and arabesque design in brass inlays create a superbly formed beauty with exquisite balance.
As it is old, it shows some stains, rust, and slight inlaying loss, but it is in very good condition. Please check the images carefully.
Due to the influence of light, the color may look slightly different from the real one. There are also slight differences depending on the browser of your computer or smartphone. Please understand.
