Higo tsuba, iron jisho mud-shaped paulownia cherry blossom nine-day crest arabesque design tsuba, unsigned, Hayashi Mataichi, Hosokawa family, gold inlay, double arabesque pattern, double-hit hole, sukishita carving, round edge, paulownia box included
This is an elaborate Higo Zogan sword guard. The ears are decorated with a thunderbolt pattern, the front has paulownia crests on the top and bottom, the back has a kuyo and cherry blossom pattern, the family crest of the Hosokawa family, lords of the Higo Kumamoto domain, and the flat ground is decorated with a double arabesque pattern.
It is in relatively good condition, although there are some age-related stains, rust, and inlays missing. Please check the images.
Due to the influence of light, the color may look slightly different from the real one.
